Downtown Orlando Senior Pictures | Keeleigh’s Urban Senior Session

Keeleigh has always been so comfortable in front of my camera. She was one of my Class of 2026 reps, so I had the chance to photograph her several times throughout her senior year, and I genuinely enjoyed every session we did together.

Our very first shoot together was a 1970s-inspired session in Winter Park, which looked completely different from this city session.

For this shoot, we decided to change things up and head into Downtown Orlando.

Keeleigh kept her outfit simple with jeans and a yellow top, brought her best friend Cloe along, and we spent our time walking through downtown looking for interesting places to photograph. We parked near the Orlando Public Library, started walking and used whatever caught my eye along the way.

That’s one of the fun things about an urban senior session. You don’t necessarily need one specific destination. Sometimes it’s an unexpected wall, doorway, street or building that ends up making a great backdrop.

Exploring Downtown Orlando for Senior Pictures

We started near the library and made our way toward Church Street, stopping in different places along the way.

Instead of photographing in one park or natural area, this session was about using the city itself. We found different colors, architecture, sidewalks and little pockets around downtown that gave Keeleigh’s photos a completely different look from some of the other sessions we had done together.

I’m always watching the light and noticing colors, textures and backgrounds while we’re walking. Sometimes a spot that doesn’t look like much at first can photograph completely differently once I put a senior in front of it.

That’s part of what makes exploring an urban setting fun.

Senior Pictures at CityArts Orlando

One of the places we stopped was CityArts Orlando on Magnolia Avenue.

The dark green exterior immediately caught my attention, especially with Keeleigh’s yellow top. It gave us a bold combination of colors and a completely different look from the backgrounds we had already used.

Keeleigh’s outfit was simple — jeans and a comfortable top — but it worked really well for this kind of session. Urban settings already bring in so much color, architecture and texture that your clothes don’t have to do all the work.

Keeleigh Was Completely Comfortable in Front of My Camera

By the time we did this session, I had already photographed Keeleigh several times, and she was completely comfortable in front of my camera.

That definitely shows in her images.

One of the things I enjoyed most about working with Keeleigh throughout her senior year was how easy she was to photograph. She trusted me when I spotted somewhere I wanted to try, and we could move from one place to another without overthinking everything.

That kind of confidence is wonderful when it happens naturally, but it isn’t something I expect from every senior who comes to me.

You do not have to know how to pose. You don’t need to practice beforehand. And you definitely don’t need modeling experience.

Bringing Your Best Friend Along

Keeleigh also brought her best friend Cloe with her, and of course we had to get Cloe into some of the photographs too.

Cloe had been such a great friend and supporter of Keeleigh, and I loved getting some photos of the two of them together.

Senior year is filled with people who become part of the memories you’re making during that time, and sometimes it just makes sense to include one of those people in a few photographs.

We got some fun best-friend photos of Keeleigh and Cloe together, and I grabbed a few individual portraits of Cloe while she was there too.

They weren’t the main focus of the session, but I love that Keeleigh has photographs of their friendship from her senior year.

Why an Urban Setting Works So Well for Senior Pictures

You don’t have to photograph in the middle of Downtown Orlando to get an urban look for your senior pictures.

If you love streets, colorful buildings, brick, architecture, storefronts or rooftop-style photographs, there are several downtown areas around Central Florida that can give us that feel.

Downtown Winter Garden is one I photograph regularly, and it gives us a mix of streets, storefronts, brick, colorful backgrounds and other little spots we can use as we walk. There are other downtown areas around Central Florida that can work beautifully too.

The important part isn’t choosing a location because it’s the biggest city or the place everyone recognizes.

It’s finding a setting that gives us the look you want and makes sense for your session.

Your Senior Pictures Don’t Have to Be Complicated

Keeleigh’s session is also a really good reminder that you don’t need several elaborate outfits or a complicated concept to create senior photographs with variety.

She wore jeans and a yellow top.

We walked, explored and stopped when I found something that worked.

And we came away with some really great images.

Sometimes seniors come to me knowing exactly what they want their photos to look like. Others know they want something different but aren’t quite sure what that means yet.

Both are completely fine.

I loved getting the chance to photograph Keeleigh in so many different ways throughout her senior year, and this session gave us another completely different look.

We explored Downtown Orlando, photographed around Church Street and CityArts, kept her outfit casual and made sure Cloe got in front of the camera with her too.
