The final cost depends on the photographer’s experience, session length, number of images, locations, planning support, and whether products or professional hair and makeup are included.

• What’s included in the package. This is the big one. Two photographers can charge the same amount and deliver very different things. One might include a handful of digital images; another might include professional hair and makeup, prep resources, and a full gallery. • The session experience itself. Some sessions are quick and simple. Others are fully guided, with location scouting, outfit consultations, and a photographer who walks your senior through every moment so they never feel awkward or lost. The experience you have on session day matters, and it’s reflected in pricing.

• Final images and products. Digital files, prints, albums, and wall art all factor into cost. Some photographers include digitals; others sell them separately. Some offer luxury print products as add-ons. Knowing what you want to walk away with helps you compare packages fairly.

When comparing senior picture prices, ask whether the amount you see is a session fee or the total expected investment. A session fee may cover the photographer’s time and planning while photographs, digital files, prints, or albums are purchased separately. What’s Usually NOT Included (and Worth Asking About)

A few things that can catch families off guard when comparing senior picture photographers:

• Hair and makeup. Most photographers do not include this. It’s typically an out-of-pocket cost that can run $100–$250+ on top of the session fee. Some photographers include it or offer it as an add-on and handle all the coordination for you, which is worth factoring into your comparison. This is something I think is important and I am so happy to be able to offer this to my seniors!

• Outfit changes. Some photographers limit the number of looks or charge extra for longer sessions that allow multiple outfit changes.

• Rush delivery. Need images by a yearbook deadline? Some photographers charge extra for expedited turnaround. Always ask upfront.

• Prints and albums. Most photographers deliver digital files, but physical products are often sold separately. If you want something to hang on your wall or gift to grandparents, ask what product options are available.

• Is the advertised amount a session fee or the total investment?
