Horizon High School Senior Pictures in Clermont, FL

I had a feeling Alyssa’s senior session was going to be SO much fun before I even met her!

From reading her questionnaire to chatting with her during our planning call, I could already tell that this Horizon High School senior had such a fun, playful personality. And let me tell you, she did not disappoint!

We headed to Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont for her senior pictures, and we could not have asked for a more beautiful evening.

Funny enough, we actually had to reschedule her session twice because of the weather. But looking back, I’m so glad we waited. The forecast was finally looking perfect, the lighting was gorgeous, and everything came together for such a fun evening!

Three Outfits, Three Different Looks

Can we talk about Alyssa’s outfits for a minute? Because I absolutely loved her choices!

She started her session in a beautiful long yellow dress, changed into a shorter white dress with boots, and finished in jeans and a cute top.

This is actually the perfect example of how I recommend planning outfits for senior pictures.

I love starting with something a little more formal, moving into something fun and slightly less dressy, and ending with an outfit that’s casual and completely YOU.

You get so much variety without needing a closet full of clothes.

Personally, I think three outfits is the sweet spot for a full senior session. If we’re doing a shorter one-hour session, I usually recommend sticking with two. That gives us more time for pictures and less time spent changing.

And Alyssa absolutely nailed it!

Beautiful Light at Lake Louisa State Park

One of my favorite things about photographing seniors at Lake Louisa is the variety we can get without having to travel to several different locations.

We started Alyssa’s session out in the fields, where her yellow dress was such a pretty choice. Then we made our way over to the fence area before eventually heading toward the beach area of the park.

And the light that evening? SO pretty!

After rescheduling twice, it was such a relief to finally have beautiful weather. Sometimes waiting for the right conditions really does pay off.

Lake Louisa has become one of my favorite locations for senior pictures around Orlando, especially for seniors who love open fields, natural scenery, and beautiful evening light.

And if you’d like to see how differently the same location can photograph, take a look at Mia’s Clermont senior pictures at a record store and Lake Louisa. We combined two completely different settings for her session!

From Dresses to Denim

I loved that Alyssa didn’t stick with just one style for her senior pictures.

Her shorter white dress with boots gave us a completely different look from the long yellow dress she started with.

And then she finished the session in jeans and a cute top, which was such a fun way to end the evening.

This is something I always encourage my seniors to think about when we’re planning their outfits. You don’t have to choose between dressing up and looking like yourself.

You can absolutely do both!

If you’re trying to decide how to match your outfits to your location, I have a few more tips in my post about choosing the perfect location for your senior pictures.

The Best Part Was Alyssa Herself!

As much as I loved the location, outfits, and beautiful weather, what made this session so memorable was Alyssa herself.

She is outgoing, playful, energetic, and just so much fun to be around.

Seriously, it felt like I was hanging out with a friend and taking pictures along the way!

We also discovered during our planning that we’re both a little obsessed with the color pink. And I think she really understood just how much I love pink when she noticed my pink sapphire engagement ring and the pink sapphires in my wedding band.

I mean, when even your wedding rings are pink, you know it’s serious!

And I have to give Vanessa a little shoutout, too.

Without me even asking, she was taking behind-the-scenes photos and videos throughout the session. When I got home, I had a text waiting with 27 photos and videos!

How sweet is that?!

I absolutely love having those little behind-the-scenes memories, and it meant so much that she thought to capture them for me.

Lake Louisa Senior Pictures: Frequently Asked Questions

How many outfits should I bring to my senior session?

For a full senior session, I usually recommend three outfits. I love having one dressier look, something a little less formal, and one casual outfit that really shows your personality. For a one-hour session, two outfits is usually a better choice.

Is Lake Louisa State Park a good location for senior pictures?

Absolutely! It’s one of my favorite locations in Clermont. You have open fields, fences, natural scenery, and a beach area, so we can create several different looks during one session.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Florida weather can be unpredictable! Alyssa’s session was actually rescheduled twice before we finally got the beautiful evening we’d been hoping for. I keep an eye on the forecast and work with my clients when weather affects our plans.

Do I need to know how to pose for my senior pictures?

Not at all! I’ll guide you throughout your session, so you don’t have to worry about knowing what to do in front of the camera. My goal is to help you feel comfortable enough to relax, have fun, and let your personality show.

Can my mom come to my senior session?

Of course! I love when moms get to be part of the experience. Alyssa’s mom, Vanessa, even surprised me with 27 behind-the-scenes photos and videos from our evening together!
